The Caerphilly Business Forum is pleased to welcome back Helen Iles, Head of Training at Hugh James to the Borough on the 5th December at 7.30am at Tredomen Business and Technology Centre.
This is the sixth in our set of new breakfast seminars where we aim to provide insightful and helpful seminars that can help businesses throughout Caerphilly.
ABOUT THE SEMINAR
If you want peace, prepare for war
…was the advice of Roman Vegetius before the fall of the Roman Empire. So too is this the advice of Helen Iles, Senior Associate and Head of Training at Hugh James regarding new rules set to hit all UK businesses in May 2018 in the form of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR.”) Amending current data protection rules, the GDPR has the potential to further muddy the already-murky waters of data management for organisations unless they are fully prepared for its arrival and ready to deal with its impact. Whilst some data management requirements stay the same, the GDPR requires other things to be done differently, and other duties are imposed for the very first time. Attend this session to ensure your organisation is forewarned and forearmed, and in a position to defend itself against the new maximum 20 million Euro fine.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Prior to achieving accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in training practice and assuming responsibility for Hugh James' internal and external training functions, Helen was a solicitor in the Employment and HR Services Team for six years, advising on a wide range of employment law issues. The success of the training products Helen created and delivered whilst practising as a solicitor revealed her passion for quality, innovative learning and subsequently lead to her appointment as Hugh James’s Head of Training.
In a training capacity, Helen and her team are responsible for all aspects of the firm’s learning and development. Externally, Helen and her team also design, deliver and evaluate training to clients across a range of industry sectors on a broad spectrum of topics including personal and management development, employment law and human resources best practice.
